 Walk Report September 25

We were fortunate to have cold but good weather for walking yesterday when 12 of us gathered at the Dementia Trail to walk into the Woowookarung Park. First we walked up to the Lookout, from where we had good views and a chance for a banana break, before heading off on the Grasstree Trail for the rest of our 7.3 km walk. Chris gave us some interesting historical and environmental information along the way which added to the experience.

On arriving back to the car park we met up with Maria and made our way to La Miette Patisserie which met all our expectations of good coffee and fantastic cakes.

Thanks to Chris and Greg for a really good outing in Woowookarung.

Walk a report September 11

A dozen of us set out along Humphray St South , past the enormous pipes leading to the wastewater plant. We found our way uphill through the pines beside the Ballarat Gold mine.
A view looked out over the dam so opposed by Dora Pearce and the Tailings Dam Community Safety Action Group.
We met a fine Bernese Mountain Dog and her informative owner/breeder.
On the way down Whitehorse Rd we met John’s bus driver friend who kindly took pity on us old people with walking sticks and offered us a ride.
Perhaps because we were then going downhill, he had no takers.
Then back upstream beside the Yarrowee River and home. Some of us took the option of refreshments at the Beechworth Bakery
